A hundred years, the same idea
There are those who make shoes for a season, and those who make them to last. Brunate belongs to the second kind: the company was founded in 1926 in Lomazzo, in the heart of the Como area, by Vittorio Galli and Giovanni Volontè. In 2026 it turns exactly one hundred — a century in the hands of the same family, today led by the third generation.
It wasn't a straight line: a fire destroyed the factory in 1949, and from there it was rebuilt. Born as a children's shoemaker, between the 1980s and 1990s the brand moved into women's footwear, bringing the same artisan care into the new production.
Materials you choose by touch
Soft suede, smooth leather, fine fabrics: in the Brunate collection the materials alternate and often live together in the same model, with the leather lining that accompanies the foot without rubbing. The shoes that arrived just these days for autumn winter have water-repellent suede — a choice made for those who walk through the city every day, rain included.
Colour follows the same logic of balance: neutral, timeless tones — black, dark brown, beige — alongside bolder touches, like a silver-coloured detail or a camouflage pattern on the latest arrivals. No need to choose between understated and original: both live together in the same collection.
A fit made to last
There are no laces to tie: Brunate shoes slip on, and the insole — leather in the more classic models, padded leather in the latest arrivals — is designed to accompany your step for hours, not just for a photo. Heels range from 1.5 to 7 centimetres: low and block-shaped, stable, for those on their feet all day; higher and sculpted for an evening out. The sole, almost always non-slip rubber, is the detail you only notice when it matters — in the rain, on a wet pavement.
A style for every day
Pumps, loafers and ballet flats: three different ways of being elegant without dressing for an occasion. It is the style you wear to the office in the morning and don't change for an aperitivo in the evening, that you slip on for a weekend away and stays comfortable until the last errand — the same shoe, no compromises.
This is where Brunate's hundred years are really felt: not in the year written on a label, but in the choice to keep making shoes designed to be lived in, not just admired.
