Women's ankle boot by Copenhagen Studios, model CPH686, in chocolate brown nubuck. The Chelsea boot is the lace-free ankle boot recognizable by its elastic side gussets, which allow it to be put on: you slide it on by pulling the back tab, and the elastic does the rest, adapting to the instep. Nubuck is leather buffed on the grain side, giving it a very short nap: it has the velvety look of suede but a more compact, resistant surface, since it retains the outer layer of the hide. Here the grain remains visible, and over time the color develops an irregular patina that is simply the nature of the material, not a flaw. The sole is what defines this model: a rubber platform sole with a block heel, deep-lugged tread and a bumper strip running along the entire perimeter to protect the edge of the upper. The construction gives an even lift — the platform extends under the forefoot as well, so the actual height difference between heel and toe stays contained and walking remains stable. The insole is padded leather and removable, so it can be swapped out or taken off to make room for a personal orthotic. The CPNHGN logo is embossed on the outer side, tone on tone.
