Women's L'Arianna ankle boot in water-repellent suede, Sigaro color, with a 5 cm heel. Suede is leather that's been buffed on the flesh side, meaning the inner side: it has a soft nap and a matte surface. The water-repellent treatment makes it more resistant than ordinary suede to light rain and splashes, the weak point of this leather in winter use. Sigaro is a medium, warm brown, between cognac and dark brown (testa di moro). The toe is slightly squared and closed with a cap toe featuring visible stitching, which separates the toe from the rest of the upper with a clean line. The shaft is 16 cm high and fits snugly up above the ankle, with no folds or decorations. A curved seam on the back marks the heel counter, the reinforcement that keeps the heel in place. The zip on the inner side allows it to be put on and taken off without straining the instep, keeping the outer side clean, the only one visible while walking. The 5 cm heel is slim and covered in the same suede as the upper: it lifts the heel just enough to elongate the leg, while remaining comfortable for all-day wear. Inside, the lining is leather and the insole is natural-colored leather. The sole is leather, with a rubber insert under the forefoot and a rubber heel lift. The leather sole lets the foot breathe, while the rubber provides grip where pressure concentrates. Despite the water-repellent treatment, it's best to brush the suede dry after use to keep the nap even. This close-fitting ankle boot looks great under straight-leg or flared trousers, which cover the shaft and leave the toe visible, or with skirts and midi dresses that leave the shaft line exposed.
