Tamponatura is a finishing technique in which the color is applied to the leather with a dabbing pad, in successive passes, rather than evenly. The brown tone concentrates where the pad presses more, on the toe and heel, and lightens toward the center of the upper. Because of this, the color intensity varies slightly from pair to pair.

The apron has a raised, finished edge that runs along its entire contour, setting it apart from the rest of the shoe.

The bag construction technique is a method in which the upper wraps around the foot like a pouch and closes beneath the sole, rather than being built over a rigid insole. The result is a very flexible shoe that flexes with the foot from the very first wear, without requiring the break-in period typical of traditionally constructed shoes.

The 4 cm heel is slim, slightly flared at the base, and covered in the same leather as the upper, so the shoe reads as a single color from toe to floor. It raises the heel without shifting too much weight onto the forefoot, and the tapered toe elongates the line of the foot more than its height would suggest.

Inside, the lining is leather and the insole is natural-colored leather. The sole is leather, with a rubber insert under the forefoot and a rubber heel cap. The leather lets the foot breathe, while the rubber provides grip where weight is concentrated.

For a tamponato leather, a cream in the same shade or a neutral cream is recommended: a glossy polish would even out the color and erase the shading.

The heeled loafer is an all-day shoe: formal enough for the office, comfortable enough for hours on your feet. It works with tailored ankle-length trousers, straight jeans with a cuff, and midi skirts in wool or knit. Chocolate brown pairs well with camel, cream, heather grey, and forest green tones.
