Tabita black leather

Vic Matiè women's shoulder bag, Tabita model, in black calfskin leather. The hobo bag is the unstructured shoulder bag that takes the shape of whatever it holds: here the principle is taken to the extreme, because the silhouette isn't fixed even when empty. Construction is what sets this model apart. A central body closed by a zipper, with two wide leather sides around it that open upward forming two lateral points: empty, the bag traces a wide crescent with raised wings; full, the sides spread out and the volume becomes round. It's a bag that changes shape, not a soft bag that simply gives in. The 65 cm width is the measurement with the sides open: on the shoulder the bag gathers in and takes up much less space, but it remains a large format, built for a full day. The handle is a single wide leather strap, cut in continuity with the body, worn on the shoulder or in the crook of the arm. The central compartment closes with a metal zipper and a long leather zip-pull. Inside, a fabric-lined compartment with a zip pocket. The calfskin leather is smooth and free of rigid coatings: it moves and folds with its contents, and over time takes on the creases of use. These are the marks that this type of construction puts on display rather than hides. Worn under a long coat and wide-leg trousers, the volume works through coherence: it's a bag that needs space around it and doesn't sit well with a fitted silhouette.
